Ziraldo Alpaca wrist warmers/fingerless gloves
Rainy day ….. a good time to sew together some of my new, handknit Ziraldo Alpaca, wrist warmers/fingerless gloves. These are soft, warm, and perfect for this time of year. Can be made to order: $38/pair.
Alpaca Bird Nesting Material. It’s time to put it outside!
Hang your nesting material and holder outside in mid to late March. The birds will probably be nesting earlier than usual this year. Position the nesting material close to your bird feeders so the birds can conserve energy and find food and nest building materials all in one place.
Birds that will use this material include orioles, chickadees, finches and possibly hummingbirds.
Orioles are starting to arrive in South Western Ontario. They find a mate and start building their nests very quickly. Orioles like to use long animal fibres and twigs to build their nests and line them with soft downy fibres.
Chickadees build their nests in cavities and bird houses. They have one brood per season and line the nest with soft material such as alpaca fibre.
Goldfinches and House Finches wait to nest until June or July. They incorporate animal fibres into their nests, saving the finest materials for the lining.
Offering materials that birds use to build nests is just one more way for you to attract more bird activity to your backyard.
Our packages of bird nesting material contain 100% natural, chemical free, Canadian alpaca fibre.
Our bird nesting material and holders can be purchased at Ziraldo Alpacas Farm Store, Featherfields The Bird & Garden Store in London,ON, River Line Nature Company, in Goderich, ON and Porter’s Hill Wild Birdseed Co. in Bayfield, ON.

I really enjoy knitting with Ziraldo Alpaca yarn. It is so soft & all the natural colours are wonderful. Debbie has a knack for mixing fibre from two or more animals to create some really unique colours. It is so nice to be able to meet the animal that produced the yarn. I bought some roving for a gift & it came packaged with the animal’s picture - what a nice added touch! I love to hear Debbie talk about her alpacas. She is always proud to show them off. My whole family enjoys visiting the farm & always feels welcome.
Best of all, I like the fact that I am supporting a local small business.

The first time I wore my new Alpaca Insoles in my work-shoes, I was truly surprised how warm they kept my feet. I also own a couple of pairs of Alpaca/blend socks. They are the most durable , warmest and softest socks I’ve ever worn. What a pleasure it was to actually “meet” some of the Ziraldo Alpacas at their farm, knowing that one or more of these amazing animals is the reason I have “happy-feet”! For a real treat, one should try the 100% pure Alpaca Yarn in a pair of snuggly “bed-socks”. Debbie Ziraldo and her family work hard to bring you a truly exceptional product……the best money I’ve ever spent!
from…..a happy customer,
Shirley Hutchins.
